Hassanat Funmilayo Abubakar-Hamid is a Reader, Researcher and currently the Ag. HOD in the Department of Arabic, Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin. She holds different administrative positions in the University both in the past and present such as: University of Ilorin Private Hostel Hall Mistress, 2024 to date, a Representative of Faculty of Arts to the Committee on Examinations, Scholarship and Prizes, 2021 – 2023, Member, Faculty of Arts Webbing Committee, 2021- 2023; Member, Faculty of Arts, Ethical Review Committee, 2019 – 2021; Representative of Faculty of Arts to Faculty of Environmental Sciences, 2019 – 2021; Member, Faculty of Arts, Dress Code Committee, 2018 – 2019; Member, Unilorin Ceremonial Committee, 2017 – 2019; Representative of Faculty of Arts to Unilorin Business School, 2016 to 2018; Representative of Faculty of Arts to Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, 2016 to 2019; Examination Officer, Department of Arabic, 2014 to 2021; LOC Member, International Conference on The Life and Works of Shaykh Adam Abdullahi Al-ilory organized by Faculty of Arts University of Ilorin, 2012; and Course Adviser, Department of Arabic, 2009 to 2016. Primarily, her research area is on Arabic Literature and Feminism. She is currently on sabbatical leave at Department of Philosophy and Religions, Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State.
